Another tunnel kiln

With a maximum temperature of 1,650 °C, this high-temperature tunnel kiln is one of the most powerful firing units in the industry. Up to 16,000 tons of premium refractory products are fired in the eighty-metre-long kiln in Höhr-Grenzhausen every year.

Acquisition of Ancorite

The Steuler Group acquires large shares in the British company Ancorite Holdings Ltd. and its subsidiaries. This acquisition gives Steuler access to the market in Great Britain and Ireland and further expands its presence in corrosion protection.

The first Steuler Linings sustainability report is published. At the same time, sustainability management in the Steuler Group is reorganized.

Construction of a new tunnel kiln

Tunnel kiln goes into operation in Höhr-Grenzhausen - Increases the production capacity by around 8,000 tonnes per annum - Firing temperature of 1.450°C to manufacture special refractory and acid-resistant bricks.

Steuler's concern for the welfare of its employees is apparent from an early stage. A workers' refectory is built in Höhr-Grenzhausen in the same year; the building is still being used as a canteen today.

In 1912 Steuler supplies four reaction towers and three acid vessels to the USA

Export order to the USA

Steuler supplies four reaction towers and three acid vessels to South Carolina. The order requests acid-resistant bricks and cements, accompanied by an engineer and eight of the company's own fitters.

Steuler has been producing acid-resistant bricks in its own factory building with a kiln in Höhr-Grenzhausen since 1910
