Soot production

High-temperature ceramics

During the production of soot - also known as "carbon black" - temperatures of up to 2,000 °C are reached in the process reactors.

This can only be achieved with specially developed high-temperature ceramics. And high temperatures are not the only challenge. Other conditions such as temperature changes, different atmospheres and extreme flow rates with changing pressures also put the refractory materials under extremely high stresses. Materials based on corundum and mullite, which were specially developed to withstand these stresses, are used here.

In cooperation with the plant operators, continuous optimization and further development is taking place in this area. Special manufacturing processes as well as the design of special formats - appropriately complemented by standard parts – provide a high level of wear protection and a long service life.
