STEULER-KCH supplies pipes for flue gas desulphurisation units used in coal-fired power stations – in particular, recirculation lines made of fibre-reinforced plastics. Materials from STEULER-KCH are the preferred choice wherever highly corrosive media must be handled and where conventional metallic materials cannot deliver due to insufficient resistance.
We design, manufacture and install pipes made from glass fibre-reinforced plastics (GRP) with thermoplastic linings (KERAVERIN®) and from pure GRP (KERAPOLIN). We primarily use polypropylene (PP) as a liner for the KERAVERIN® lining. It features high resistance to chemical attack and excellent abrasion resistance and is well able to withstand the stresses encountered in flue gas scrubbing units.
Pipes lined with this material comply with the applicable DIN standard 16965 part 2/ pipe type B. The dual-laminate material is known as KERAVERIN®. As GRP pipes with a chemical-resistant layer (KERAPOLIN®), our pipes without thermoplastic lining are covered under part 4/ pipe type D.
In order to ensure that these piping systems are also optimally protected against abrasion, we add a special filler to the chemical-resistant barrier (CRB) – always adapted to the requirements of the customer's production process. For spray lances used in flue gas scrubbers, for example, we apply the CRB both on the outside and inside, because this unit is exposed to particularly high stresses.
The operating temperature range is between -50 °C and approximately 200 °C, depending on the composite material used. We can naturally also supply highly flame retardant material systems suitable for use in areas with increased fire risk.
Our standard portfolio comprises products with nominal diameters from DN 25 to DN 1000, whilst the grading of the standard nominal pressure varies, depending on the nominal diameter, and starts at PN 16. We're well equipped to handle large nominal diameters too. We are able to fabricate items up to 5.5 m in diameter.
Naturally, we can also supply electrically conductive material systems suitable for use in areas subject to explosion hazards. Our pipes can be fabricated to be compliant with pressure equipment directives. We are also certified according to module H/H1.
