Flue gas cleaning serves to remove pollutants from flue gas in order to cause as little environmental pollution as possible. The minimum requirements for flue gas cleaning plants are mainly laid down in the Federal Immission Control Ordinances (BImSchV) and the Technical Instructions on Air Quality Control (TA Luft).
The set-up of a flue gas cleaning plant depends on various factors, including the area of application, the environment and the required cleaning effort.
Purification essentially consists of filtration, adsorption and absorption and catalytic conversion. These processes produce reaction products that can be reused for certain applications, e.g. gypsum from desulfurization plants in coal-fired power plants (REA gypsum), hydrochloric acid from flue gas scrubbers from waste incineration plants and fly ash from coal-fired power plants, which is used as aggregate in the cement production.
Besides Carbon dioxide and water, combustion processes also produce Carbon monoxide, Sulfur oxides, Nitrogen oxides, but also Hydrochloric acid (hydrochloric acid) and Hydrogen fluoride (hydrofluoric acid) as well as Mercury and heavy metal-containing dusts. Highly toxic substances such as polychlorinated dioxins and furans etc. are also produced in very low concentrations. Complex, multi-stage processes are required to purify the flue gases produced as comprehensively as possible from these "pollutants".
Steuler services in flue gas cleaning
Very important: we are talking about aggressive media that attack steel and concrete structures. Accordingly, the construction must be protected. That is our job.
Right now we will only go into the basic process steps and show which services STEULER-KCH can offer you for your project.
The following plant components can be used for flue gas cleaning:
- Fabric filter for the separation of dust particles from the flue gases: Laminate coatings, Flake coatings
- Electrostatic precipitator for the separation of dust particles from the flue gases leaving the boiler: Rubber linings, Flake coatings, Laminate coatings, Plastic linings (Bekaplast).
- Absorbers and adsorbers with packed bed and other internals: Rubber linings, Flake coatings, Laminate coatings, Plastic linings, GRP tanks, GRP tanks with CCS; Plastic container
- Heat exchanger (different designs): Rubber linings, Flake coatings, Laminate coatings, Plastic linings (BEKAPLAST)
- Quenching: Rubber linings, Flake coatings, Laminate coatings, Plastic linings (BEKAPLAST), Linings
- Water treatment: Rubber linings, Flake coatings, Laminate coatings, Plastic linings (BEKAPLAST), Plastic containers
- Flue gas ducts: Rubber linings, Flake coatings, Laminate coatings, Plastic linings (BEKAPLAST)
- Chimneys / Stacks: Rubber linings, Flake coatings, Laminate coatings, Plastic linings (BEKAPLAST)
- Wastewater treatment: Rubber linings, Flake coatings, Laminate coatings, Plastic linings (BEKAPLAST)
- Storage tanks: Rubber linings, Flake coatings, Laminate coatings, Plastic linings (BEKAPLAST), Plastic containers
