Hazardous waste incineration
The demand for increasing efficiency in hazardous waste and industrial waste incineration plants means that the need for innovative refractory concepts is increasing.
Furnace temperatures up to 1,450 °C with permanent temperature changes, strong mechanical stress and at the same time high input mean that the requirements of refractory materials are constantly on the rise.
Steuler Linings offers plant operators safety with linings for the highest requirements:
- Rotary kiln
- Post combustion chamber
- Front face
- Fluidized bed combustion
- Gasifiers
Chromium oxide-containing materials with a low SiO2 content from Steuler are corrosion-resistant as well as infiltration-resistant with high elasticity and thermal shock resistance at the same time.
The chrome corundum materials manufactured under the brand name Suprema CZK have proven their special performance worldwide for more than 35 years and ensure the best possible availability of incineration lines, even in the most aggressive furnace atmospheres.
Steuler's primary focus is on optimally coordinated lining concepts that ensure maximum plant availability.
We understand our customer dialog to be always based on a long-term partnership with the common goal of continuously developing your processes and availability.
Weighing up the specific loads and taking into account the wide variety of brickwork openings, such as burner, lance and chute dimensions, Steuler offers three different innovative lining concepts:
- Pure brick linings, i. e. completely built with shaped bricks and standard bricks
- Combination linings with shaped and fired bricks, combined with refractory concrete and / or ramming mass
- Purely monolithic linings, with poured concrete, shotcrete or ramming mass
The rotary kiln is the heart of every incinerator. The refractory lining in this part of the plant is subject to extreme conditions.
In the inlet zone, the stresses imparted on the refractory lining are primarily mechanical and temperature changes. Steuler generally uses chemically bonded materials with high abrasion resistance and pressure resistance in this zone.
The moisture penetration in this area also requires good temperature change properties of the andalusite and corundum bricks used here.
Main combustion zone and discharge
With furnace temperatures sometimes exceeding 1,400 °C and the most aggressive slag and changing operating conditions, extreme stress is exerted on refractory materials.
Steuler develops, supplies and installs highly abrasion-resistant linings based on corundum with varying chromium oxide content. With chromium additives from 5% up to 60%, as well as high-temperature firing up to 1,600 °C and the careful selection of the raw materials used, we supply high-performance linings for the most demanding requirements.
In the post combustion chamber, the refractory brick lining is generally subject to very harsh chemical stress from highly alkali conditions and further aggressive media. In combination with high combustion chamber temperatures of up to 1,350 °C, liquid slag in particular severely erodes the brick.
In addition to tried-and-tested refractory brick materials based on andalusite, bauxite and corundum – optionally available in variants which contain chromium-oxide – Steuler also offers Suprema CAK 710 P, a special highly abrasion-resistant product specifically designed for these unusual loading conditions.
Specially manufactured burner bricks, shaped console bricks and prefabricated components as well as solid anchoring systems provide linings with a long service life.
Rounding out the product range, a large number of monolithic refractory and insulating materials can be supplied on short notice.
